Demand for food relief up by 50%

The number of people suffering from food insecurity and requiring relief has risen sharply. According to Foodbank’s latest Hunger Report 2020, the proportion of food-insecure Aussies seeking food relief has doubled since COVID-19 hit.

Foodbank Australia CEO Brianna Casey says that the country has not hit “peak hunger” yet this year. The organisation is concerned with the vulnerable people who were already suffering pre-COVID and are even more affected now during the virus outbreak.
