This initiative is powered by The Vocal Minority in partnership with Uniting Vic.Tas, working together to create a safer environment for women.

At 63, She just left. No superannuation, no home, and nowhere to go.

Family violence doesn't stop at any age. For older women, leaving is often harder - and the help harder to find. Stand with Uniting Vic.Tas and the women rebuilding their lives after 55.

Violence against women is a national emergency. Last year, 57 Australian women were killed by intimate partner violence – more than one every week. NO MORE women should die at the hands of someone they once loved.

But the women who survive face their own crisis — and for older women, it can be the hardest of all. Many have little or no superannuation. Many have been financially abused for decades. Many leave with nothing and nowhere to go.

Uniting Vic.Tas runs a dedicated program for women over 55 who are rebuilding their lives after violence  –  because at 60, at 70, at 75, a woman still deserves a safe bed, an independent life, and a future. For every woman we support, we stand with her for 12 months: safe housing, counselling, and the help she needs to start again.

I stand with Uniting Vic.Tas and every woman rebuilding her life after violence – at every age. I want to see every woman in safe housing, with access to long-term recovery support, and specialist programs for women over 55, so that no woman is ever turned away because of her age or circumstances.

There is no excuse for abuse – at any age. Together we CAN support women to live safe, strong, and happy lives.
